Are you a Motor Carrier over 26,000lbs traveling across state lines? If yes, You are required to have IFTA decals and license.
International Fuel Tax Agreement or IFTA setup is for vehicles over 26,000 pounds crossing state lines.
Motor Carrier must have an apportioned plate/IRP account established prior to establishing an IFTA account.
International Registration Plan (IRP) is the registration required for vehicles over 26,000 pounds that cross state lines. Also known as Apportioned Plates and Prorate Account. IFTA is the fuel tax decals and license for the same vehicles.
An IRP and IFTA account is required for companies that have vehicles crossing state lines that are over 26,000 pounds gross vehicle weight or have 3 or more axles on the power unit.
For IFTA, you will receive a set of decals (stickers) for you power unit and an IFTA license to be kept in the cab
For IRP you will receive your Apportioned License Plate for your power unit and an Apportioned Cab Card that lists the states/provinces you have registered your vehicle to operate in. .
The state will require the following supporting documents: a copy of your title, copy of insurance, and a phone bill or utility bill to prove residence in the state.
USDOT Biennial MCS-150 Update is for carriers needing to update their company's USDOT information with the FMCSA. The Biennial Update is required every two years on a set schedule determined by the USDOT number.
Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) requires all entities under its jurisdiction to update their information at least every two years. This can be referred to as the Biennial Update, MCS-150 Update, or USDOT Update. All these names refer to the same filing.
The due date for the update is determined by the last two digits of your USDOT number.
You are required to provide this update every two years, even if your company has not changed its information, has ceased interstate operations since the last update, or is no longer in business and you did not notify FMCSA. Failure to complete a Biennial Update will result in deactivation of your USDOT number and may result in civil penalties of up to $1,000 per day, not to exceed $10,000.
FMCSA Authority Reinstatement for MC or FF Numbers that are currently "Inactive" so that the USDOT shows "Not Authorized".
You will need to have your insurance or bonding verification in place before the FMCSA will process the reinstatement.
FMCSA Authority Application Reinstatement is for MC or FF applications that have been "Dismissed" by the FMCSA because the Insurance Verification and/or Designation of Process Agents were not filed within 90 days of the application date.
We will prepare and submit a written petition to the FMCSA to reinstate your "Dismissed" application so you can avoid paying the FMCSA’s $300 filing fee again and also avoid the hassle of resubmitting a new application.
FMCSA Authority Reapplication is for MC or FF applications that have been "Dismissed" for over 1 year by the FMCSA because the Insurance Verification and/or Designation of Process Agents were not filed. We will prepare and submit new applications to the FMCSA to reapply for your authority under your existing numbers.
You'll be required to pay the $300 application fee again.
